Enter the wacky & whimsical world of Uurnog Uurnlimited, where you have only one goal: find your way around the world, and steal all the animals! Why? Because they’re adorable, and because video games.
Uurnog Uurnlimited is a delightfully silly 2D platformer inspired by games like Super Mario Bros. 2, Lyle in Cube Sector, and Dyad. Play single-player or co-op, explore the world through its many mysterious doors, solve puzzles and gather the items and animals needed in your Save Room. Careful though — the Save Room also saves your mistakes (urr nurr!)
Nominated for the 2017 Nordic Game Sensation Award, and the IGF 2018 categories Excellence in Audio and Excellence in Design.
- CLASSIC 2D PUZZLE PLATFORMER: Solve puzzles and collect animals, then bring them back to your Save Room.
- CHALLENGING BOSS FIGHTS: Survive long enough and you may even meet the Uurnog!
- SWEET ALGORITHMIC MUSIC: Adapts the melody, tempo, key, and more to the gameplay.
- PLAY SOLO OR SHARED SCREEN CO-OP: Real talk: everything is better when you’re playing with a friend as an adorable puppy, right?
- MULTIPLE ENDINGS: Shhhh. I hear there may even be some secrets to discover… ;)
Uurnog's music is fully algorithmic and can adapt to the gameplay in more ways than traditional game music. The music software is built into the game (press F12 before loading a game). This version is a prototype, but a more intuitive version is planned for future games.
The game's developer mode also includes a level editor. If someone makes a nice mod, Nicklas promises to release an update with a mod selector in the launcher.
Nicklas would like to highlight some inspirations for Uurnog. These include Super Mario Bros 2, Lyle in Cube Sector, Super Pole Riders, Dyad, Hyper Light Drifter, and that Ghostbusters movie (yes, the new one). Also, without the inspiration from the non-linear approach of David Kanaga's music, the algorithmic music software may not have existed.
Meet the developers
Nicklas Nygren - Game Designer
Nicklas has released many games under the name Nifflas. He feels super weird writing about himself in third person.
Corinne Cadalin - Character Art
Most of Uurnog's character artwork was designed by Corinne. She has also worked on game design and 2D art for many other games.
Harri Dammert - Theme Music
Björn Malmros - Additional Music
Björn accidentally fried his own cortex trying to compose the final stage music through the in-game neural network. He is a pirate and plays in a band.
Erik Rolén - Level Design
The game's many secret areas were designed by Erik, and he also created the new character artwork for Uurnog Uurnlimited. Check out his 3D work!
